best area apple orchards?
What are your favorite area apple orchards? Our family had an annual tradition of visiting a particular one in Iowa when I was young, but it's not open anymore. I'd like to start the same thing up for B.
And because I am seasonally dumb and lazy in looking this up, what's generally the best timeframe to go?

Re: best area apple orchards?
In the past, we've always done the NE City Orchards, but this summer we went to Ditmars Orchard in Council Bluffs (near IA School for the Deaf) to pick strawberries and LOVED it. I think we'll probably skip the NE City madness and stick with Ditmars; it's smaller, they have a great kids area, family (lawyer, even!) - owned and great prices. Oh, and they have wine - who could forget that?!
Here's their facebook page. We're actually going there on Sunday morning for their hot air balloon festival (and to pick some apples).
We always go to Small's Fruit Farm in Mondamin, IA - it's small enough that it isn't overly crowded (like NE City). Can't wait to go this year!!

My MOMS club just went to one in Ft Calhoun and they said it was nice. I didnt go.
Super Bees orchard. Here are directions... I80 to 680N then on 680 take exit 12for 75N towards 48th st. turn left on 75 or mormon bridge rd..its 7 miles up on the left hand side and there are signs.
I am from NE City so I am of course partial to theirs but I also love Ditmar's. It's a quick trip, nice & small, really a cute place. I bet B would have a great time.
You can go anytime from now through the end of October or so. I'm sure they have lots ready to pick right now.
love is for every her, love is for every him, love is for everyone
I'm partial to Kimmel near NE City because XH and I used to go to Applejack every year. I'll be going with the kids, and hitting Pumpkin Ridge and all of the fun stuff. I'm checking out Ditmars tomorrow as well for the balloon thingie.
My aunt's husbands family owns this place. I haven't been for years, but I remember it being really fun!
