Dina's Party

It was on the Food Network last night, not sure why as I thought it was going to be on HGTV.  Anyway, I'm not really impressed.  She was transforming someone's living room into a prom-themed dance.  Heck, I could do that given enough time and money and make it look that good ('cuz I'm talented like that :)  Your thoughts?

Re: Dina's Party

  • I watched it HGTV last night...twice.  Well, one and a half times.  I get both the East and West Coast feeds and found something else to watch the second time.

I am not impressed with her skills (decorating or shopping-she spent a lot on that goofy stuff), but they did want that sort of prom, and were very happy with it. The cafe room was cute, but she had little to do with that.

I was a bit confused by all of the 'like the prom but  (grown up/sophisticate/ up a notch) " statements.   It just looked like every tacky prom/reunion picture that I have seen.

Our proms (back in the olden days Wink) were sometimes theme-y, but never tacky.  And weren't in the gym either.

The other episode that I saw was the one with the western theme, and she said that she didn't want it to look like a middle school play, but it did to me.

  • I thought the show was boring to be honest.

Dina's voice bugs me- its very monotone. And I'm a jersey girl with the same accent.

However, I did like Dina on RHofNJ

This!  I wasn't impressed at all.   I thought the way she decorated the house to look like a prom looked very tacky.

  • I havent watched it but I am so uninterested in watching another show with a party planner planning events w/ large budgets (i.e. David Tutera). It would be more interesting to me to see a planner accomplish an amazing party with a limited budget.
  • I was very excited about this show, and like pp's felt let down. Pretty much anybody could have planned that party with the budget and the resources. It didn't "wow" me at all, and definitely felt cheesy. I'm going to keep watching, and hopefully it picks up going forward.
