ok mommies I need to pick your brain

so Breanna has started to take to blankets and loves holding onto them and cuddling with them - well she has this teddy bear head blanket that she has been hanging onto like crazy- she will fall asleep holding onto it when she naps and she talks to it, - so my question- do you think it's ok to give it to her at night then when she falls asleep just take it out of her crib before I go to bed? Also did any of your kids have some sort of 'security blanket' and did you buy multiple of them incase they lost them

thanks:)

  • I don't know about the other stuff, but having been a blankie kid myself, my mom ALWAYS had multiples of my favorite blankie on hand....and she stocked up early just in case the blankie I loved got discontinued....I'd buy a couple, just in case, if she's really attached to one!

  • Not too sure, it's whatever you're comfortable with. I myself allowed my son to sleep on his belly at night even though everyone yells and screams it's a big no no. It's the only way I ever got any sleep otherwise I would have still been up every 3-4 hours till he was 6 months. If you think she can lift her head up enough to move around then I would say it's ok to leave it, but it's your own personal decision.

I would say my sons security blanket was his pacifier. We had multiple. It's best to have multiples of the things they enjoy in case they get dirty or break.

Im on a mission and I can NOT find the one she has now...so I may have to switch it before she gets too attached lol

  • Okay, not a mommy (yet, technically) but we went through this with both my brother and sister (I was a teen at the time and learned a lot from helping my mom take care of them). To keep them safe, my mom used to wait until they were in a deep(er) sleep and would sneak the blankets out of their cribs, but keep them next to the crib so if they woke up in the middle of the night, she could give it back until they went back to sleep. I forget what we did for my sister in terms of having multiples, but for my brother, it was a blanket my mom eventually cut it in two (it was thin like a sheet or a recieving blanket, not like a big think thing) so she could swap the clean one out for the dirty one.

Also, I should note they both went through this phase between 9 and 18-ish months, so idk if this advice is valid for a 3mo old.

  • bre sleeps on her belly at times, ya she is ok with lifting her head and it's not a full out blanket ...

  • I think it should be fine so long as you keep an eye on her and take it out before you go to bed.
