Just call it research.
Before his accident that left him unable to work, my dad was a customer service manager at Southwestern Bell telephone company.
My mom was a SAHM until I was 16, then worked at the Arkansas State Rehabilitation office as a receptionist up until this year, when she took early retirement after her doctor told her she couldn't work anymore due to her cerebral palsy.
Re: Poll: What do your parents do?
My mom is a SAHM. Before that she was a hs english teacher.
My step-mom is a photojournalist, she works for CBS.
Stand up for something you believe in.
My mom and my stepdad were both teachers in the Chicago Public School system for 35 years a piece. They taught at the same school (which is where they met, awww); my stepdad was the gym teacher and my mom taught 1-3 grade over her years teaching. They're both retired now.
My stepmom is an underwriter; she works for a company that looks at all of your information and decides whether or not to approve people/businesses for loans. My dad is a forensic underwriter. He reviews information about loans that default/go bad and tries to fgure out if something was missed that would have alerted the lender to this possibility or if it was an issue of circumstance. It wasn't until I turned about 20 that I had any clue as to what my dad and stepmom did!
My mom is a nurse and works for a company that does pre certifications for health insurance.
My dad is the general manager for the Courtyard Marriott in Fl and my step mom is also a nurse and works for the Cleveland Clinic in Fl.
Before my dad died he was the CFO of a packaging company.
My mom was a school bus driver, then was in the office at a bus company booking charters and managing scheduling and now she's the office manager at Johnson & Wales University's transportation department (I think. That's awful that I don't know more concretely what she does..)

My dad is a construction estimator. He now owns his own consulting business and basically works with owners and general contractors to hook them up with the right people to build their projects.

My mom was mostly a stay at home mom when we were kids. Now she works as a Project Assistant at a pharmaceutical company.

When I was born my mom was an operations manager at a bank (she was in charge of ATMs when they FIRST came out). She left there and SAH with me until I was 6 and now she is an instructional aide at an elementary school for special education.
My dad used to do heating, AC, HVAC repair but now he works for the state and is a supervisor at the plant which runs the whole Capital Complex (water, sewage, AC, heat, electric, etc.). His work week is Wed-Sunday which kinda stinks for my mom sometimes, but when I was younger he would take me with him to work (underground) and let me go on his weekend rounds to the State Museum. I thought I was cool shiit haha.

My dad for the longest time was the food service director at Barnard College and the Juilliard School in NYC. He decided to change careers when my mom got her teaching job in MD and try teaching but he couldn't get certified for one reason and another... And now is working as a dept head at major home improvement company. He is now looking to get back into the food service industry.

Hoenstly, these days I have no idea what my dad does, lol. He's upper management in an electrical sales company. I know he does a lot of staff training, he's pretty involved in IT stuff these days. Much beyond that, I don't honestly have a clue.
My mom was a bank teller and a SAHM for a few years when I was younger. When my sister turned 3 (I think) she got a job as an Executive Assistant at WVU. First she was with the PE Dept, now she is in the College of Creative Arts.
