I don't do this much, but my family is at our wits end, so I'm requesting the power of prayer. My brother is in the hospital (again). This time for a skull fracture & bleeding on the brain. He fell down the stairs and knocked himself out. This was after I don't know how many hours of drinking on Saturday with his friends. His 'friends' didn't call an ambulance or take him to the ER. He called my mom late yesterday afternoon b/c the pain in his ears and his eyes was so horrible (due to brain swelling). Not sure what's next, guess they just continue to monitor him. His drinking is, obviously, out of control. We just can't get through to him. I'm worried about him, and also extremely worried about my parents - they can't keep dealing with this. They've already lost one son. The fear of losing another is really getting to them.
Please no FB posts.
Re: T&P please
Not good! I hope this could perhaps be a wake up call.
Not to add more stress...I'm not sure if you know, but you can have him put in to rehab by having two family members sign a paper. Then he has no choice but to go!
Prayers with you all!
I agree, hopefully it is a wake-up call. But until he's ready for rehab, I'm not sure it will be effective. Also, how is this legally binding on him? Couldn't he check himself out? He's 32.
Thanks for the prayers.
I'm not sure on details, but I had a family member who would not go by himself and he was over 32. They said if two family members signed "some" paper they would admit him. Like I said unsure of the details, but it may be something to look into. I can get more details if you'd like. Good luck. It sucks I know.
TTC #1 since 08/11 IUI#2 = BFP!
love is for every her, love is for every him, love is for everyone
I'm so sorry...sending thoughts and prayers to your family. Alcoholism is a terrible disease- in my experience with a family member there was nothing we could do to make them change until they realize they have a problem AND they want to change. It is so sad and frustrating.
As far as I know, nowhere that provides inpatient alcohol treatment services will provide them unless the patient is seeking treatment voluntarily. Rehab is hard enough even if a person is motivated. I hope that your brother finds the help he needs. I can't imagine how sad & scary this is for all of you. I will definitely keep you all in my prayers.
