Time to stock the Kindle again - book recs

Read anything great lately?  Lay it on me.

To help:

- I don't really read the big series authors (Clancy, Higgins-Clark, etc).  My MIL is always trying to give those to me and just not interested.

- I like Fiction and Non-Fiction both - esp. memoirs.

- Recent reads that I've loved:  Hunger Games, One Day,  The Help, Love Walked In....

and.........go!

Re: Time to stock the Kindle again - book recs

  • bossypants, the girl with the dragon tatoo (hard to get into but a good story)
  • I'm reading The Bronze Horseman right now and it's pretty good so far. The book club board has been raving about it.

A couple of really sweet/feel good books I've read recently are Anna and the French Kiss and Saving CeeCee Honeycutt.

Some.. not so feel good books that I've enjoyed recently: Room and Columbine.

  • Nice!  some are new and some of these are ones I've read or thought of so...good suggestions so far!

I have "Room" in queue - starting it today.  I love me a depressing book, don't ask why.

    and I've read Bossypants recently.

  • I think you'll enjoy Room. You may want to also consider Still Alice, and I've heard good things about Sarah's Key but haven't read myself yet.

My book club read Still Alice a few months ago and it was really good! It's kind of depressing but that seems down your alley lol.

  • Have you read A Game of Thrones? Have that on my iPad right now and it is so.good. Stayed up until 1:30am last night reading it (haven't finished yet!). It's the first in a series.
  • Also I really liked Sarah's Key. Finished recently Shanghai Girls (Lisa See), she also came out with a sequel to it but I am waiting for paperback to read it... I really enjoy Lisa See's books
