Those who do craft shows...

I'm thinking of doing one or two. I had been planning to do the Renaissance Festival next year but the person who I was teaming with bailed out. Anyways.

1. What got you started?

2. Start up fees? (tables, set up, etc)

3. Where did you find your craft shows?

um...anything else you'd like to share. It'll be a while before I get started on this. I'm wanting to make sure I have all my ducks lined up.

Re: Those who do craft shows...

  • 1. My SIL had the idea to do it and recruited my MIL and I to help since we were "crafty" and she is not. Which is a lie, she's totally crafty.

    2. Tables are pretty cheap. We bought one that folds at Wal-Mart, plus two racks. The racks were expensive, from BB&B, but they're useful. The other place to look for display stuff is flea markets and thrift stores.

    3. We found most of our craft shows by networking with other vendors at shows. We heard of one or two to begin with, then chatted with the people we were around at the show to get recommendations for other shows.

  • I decided to do craft shows because many of my friends and family love my products so I thought that the public might as well!

Start up fees can vary. You can purchase a 6ft folding table from Target, Big Lots, etc. for $40. Make sure that you have a table cloth covering it. A flat sheet works well. Each show varies in cost. I've spend between $25-$75 for a show. Most are one day shows, but there are some weekend shows.

I found my craft shows by looking it up online or even from the bulletin board in the grocery or craft store!

Make sure you have enough inventory. It's hard to determine how much you'll need, but it looks terrible if you don't have enough.

     Good luck!
