So, BIL and his gf... you know the bad pet owners.

short story... dog got pregnant, had puppies. They are total mutts. When people ask what they are they list off 6 breeds. Rather than just trying to get good homes for the puppies, they are asking $50 a puppy... and surprise surprise are having trouble finding homes for 3 of the 6. These puppies have not had shots or seen a vet period, and neither has mom, ever. So they want to make a total of $300 of this accidental litter because they were too dumb to get the mom spayed in the first place. And are they planning to use the $300 to spay the mom? No.

And don't get me started on the fact that the momma dog spends all day outside chained up...

ETA: and after the puppies are all gone, gf's family is sending the dog back to live at my in-laws because they can't afford to feed her. So then at least she will have a nice big fenced in yard to run around in, but MIL won't let her in the house (which I know some people are okay with - I'm just not). At least she'll have a warm garage to sleep in in the winter :( breaks my heart. BIL went off to college and rather than finding a good home for his dog with people who can give her the right kind of home, he's passing her off to whoever can take her.

  • This makes me so sad. I can't imagine treating an animal/animals that way! I'm glad she will have a warm place for winter, and a yard to run around in, but I hope she gets some love and affection, too!!

Sorry, I know this kind of behavior must be really hard for you to see :(

  • I will take the dog and the 3 remaining puppies!  This breaks my heart.  I agree with you that they shouldn't be locked up outside all the time.  People would probably look at me weird though because our dog sleeps with us and my mom's dog (who we are babysitting) is sleeping with us too.

Not weird at all. Copper sleeps with us too. When we watched MIL's dog Matt  actually slept on the couch with him b/c Copper didn't want to share the bed. Our dog gets treated more like a child than an animal.

Tara, I don't think it is weird at all! Both of our dogs sleep with us. Growing up our family dogs always slept with us too. Whenever we dog sit, which is regularly, their two dogs sleep w/ us also. That means there are 4 doggers & 2 people in one bed, which is a little crowded, but full of love! lol We treat our dogs like they are our children!

  • Glad I'm not thr only one!  Rusty is done with my mom's dog because if he tries to make a move she barks at him!  Don't tell him, but I am kind of enjoying some "alone" time right now!  Work has been exhausting.
