hey ladies- so my mom called me today and wants me and Bre to go with her down to visit my sister in Alabama next month...Im really excited, cause now I dont have to wait til December to see them!!! has anyone ever flown with a little one? Anything I should know or any advice.
Re: flying with lo
I don't have experience with it yet, but we're flying home to PA in December with our lo and are already prepping for it!
If it helps you, we've decided that we're going to still bring our travel system since we'll need the stroller and carseat anyway, but we're going wear the baby on the plane. I sat next to a girl who bought a seat for her infant and tried to hook the carseat into the seat on the plane and almost got it totally stuck...and it didn't sit super securely after that. So Der and I decided that since there will be two of us, we'll just take turns snuggling with the baby.
And I got a nursing privacy cover (don't know if that applies to you) for cheap at Target to stash in the diaper bag. The doctor told me since I'm still planning on BFing at that point to nurse on the way up and on the way down...and if the baby doesn't want to eat give him or her a pacifier to suck on to help their ears adjust.
We're also planning to book a middle and a window seat. Normally we prefer the middle and aisle seats so we can get on and off easy, but with the baby we don't want to worry about having to adjust every time the other passenger in the row needs to get up...and we don't want to worry about people disturbing the baby if they bump him or her in our arms while walking around the cabin...that drives me crazy without a baby, so I can't imagine how much it would bug me while traveling with one!
Sorry, that was long...but I hope it helps!
awesome thanks girls!!! I definatly think we're going to lap seat her, my mom and I can both switch off n on if need be! Luckily I think my sister still has a lot of the stuff from her kiddos so we wont have to take too much, may not even have to take the travel system
good call about window/middle seats!!! Ill have to tell my mom about that when she books the flight!
I know nothing about flying with babies, but here's a fun tip that DH and I use for flying.
Instead of booking a middle and window seat, we book a window and aisle seat. Then, since the only available seat in the row is the middle, it's more likely that it will be empty. If the plane ends up full, we leave the aisle open and whoever ends up between us is delighted to get an aisle seat. It's happened to us that the only open seat on the whole plane is in our row.
(This obviously only works in a row of 3)
