That is so sad.
There was a big article about a few weeks back someone posted on the Bump about the court trials for parents who have had this happen (leaving their kids in their personal vehicle for the day by accident) and how judges are having a tough time making a decision on the verdict and supporting jail or probation time for accidental manslaughter...
Honestly, I may be a little paranoid, but I put my bag in the back of our SUV. I don't need it next to me and it makes me walk around the car before leaving it-allowing me to see Anders in his RF carseat. A family friend suggested it, and while I have never "almost left" him in the car, I do think it's a good habit to get into.
That is tragic. It happens way too often. The same thing has happened here within the past few years and another case in the past few weeks. Thankfully in the most recent case, temps here in Arkansas had dropped and the child was okay. The van driver was arrested for child neglect.
