Completely off topic

I see a lot of you ladies are pregnant from your signatures. Do any of you not want to know the sex of your child until it's born?

Re: Completely off topic

  • I'm not, but my SIL is.  They are not finding out the gender.
  • I'm not even remotely thinking about getting pregnant right now (plus DH is in afghanistan!) but I don't think I want to know. It'd be an amazing surprise!

  • I'm not currently pregnant, but when I was pregnant with my son we chose not to find out the gender. :)

I think whenever you find out is a amazing surprise, whether it's during an ultra sound or at birth, cause either way you didn't know for a while right?

We just want to be ready. We want to have the room put together and names picked out. I am not a "lets paint everything a neutral color" type of person.

Plus, if it's going to be a boy, I need some time to get use to the idea, haha.

Not that I am pregnant, or even close, this is just what we have decided. I think it is just as special to find out before. But to each their own :)

Yeah, I'm one of those people who is scared to paint anything other than beige or light pastels. My couch is beige. My rugs are beige! I don't think I'd have a problem painting everything a neutral color.

  • Not pregnant, not even close, but when I am I want to know if it's a girl or a boy. I like to plan ahead. We already said that we will have the doctor put the sex in an envelope and we will open it together over dinner.
  • We're thinking about it. Honestly, the first time I wanted to know because I was afraid I might be a tad disappointed if it was a boy. I realize now how ridiculous that was! We have all gender neutral eqpt, and we won't be doing a nursery anyway because we'll be listing our house and (hoping to) move soon after birth. I always wanted a girl, but now that I have a boy I can't imagine having a girl! So either way we'll be ecstatic. We thought it might be fun with all the boring surrounding a planned repeat c-section. I HATE pink also so we're hoping maybe that it would give family less time to buy tons of pink clothes. :)

  • I'm not pregnant, but with our first (and any future children) we wanted to know.  I enjoy sewing so I wanted to make my child's nursery bedding, some clothing, etc. and did not want it to be gender neutral (not that there is anything wrong with it).  I already "knew" the baby was a girl so the ultrasound just confirmed it :)

  • There are so many cool and creative ways to find out now. We had our midwife put the gender in a sealed and stapled envelope. Then we got together with my family and my hubby's family and opened it at a restaurant. There were about 20 of us and it was pretty fun. We always said that if we plan to have more we would just wait till the end. A couple of friends of mine have had their OB call their baker to tell them the sex of the baby. The baker then prepares a cake with the color filling representing the gender (pink girl, blue boy) and the family usually surprises the expecting mommy and or daddy with the cake. People have gotten really creative!

  • We definitely wanted to know.  It was an amazing suprise when we found out at the ultrasound. My gut was telling me it was a girl and he showed us clearly that it wasn't the case :)

  • We didnt find out the sex of our son when I was pregnant and we loved it! I am a huge planner too, but every baby needs the same darn thing. People tried to use that reasoning with me and I basically looked at them like they had 2 heads. :) We also purchased all neutral gear (stroller, pack n play, etc) so it can be used baby after baby despite the gender. We had a boy and girl name picked out. And Im not one to paint a nursery all blue or pink, so we would have gone neutral either way. I know its a surprise whether you find out at the ultrasound or in the delivery room, but Im not one to open a Christmas present before Christmas and then wrap it again and put it back under the tree. Thats the analogy Ive heard before and I like it! :)
