Trying to relocate to Houston

Hi ladies,

I am currently in Baton Rouge and have been looking for a job in the Houston area since January and I have had ZERO luck. I have had some calls but they seemed turned off that I don't already live in Houston (even though I have reassured them that relocating is not an issue.) Any ideas on where I should look? I have 5 years expereince in purchasing but would not mind a career change. The Houston Chronicle is having a job fair next month that I am planning to attend. Anyone have any experience with those? We are moving to Houston in February whether I have a job or not. I just would like to have one so we can move sooner. Any advice? I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

Re: Trying to relocate to Houston

  • Have you tried Monster or Career Builder?  They aren't the greatest, but you will get calls from recruiters from your resume.  I ended up working with one when I lived in CA and wanted to move here.  He actually set me up with 2 jobs.

  • Yes. I have my resume on Careerbuilder, Monster, LinkedIn and indeed.com. Most of the calls I have gotten have been from recruiters. They all need someone that can start right away and I would need two weeks. I have applied for countless jobs, but have not heard back from a single one.
