Moms, help me out here (clothing related)

So, I can get my pre-pg jeans on but those suckers aren't even close to buttoning.  I am sick and tired of wearing maternity jeans!  Not only because I have been in them since last November but also because now they are big on me and I have to pull them up every 5 seconds.  Add in that now they're not flattering and I just feel like a frumpy mess.

I have tried a few places for jeans but nothing is fitting around my belly.  I have to keep going up and up in sizes to fit my belly but then the jeans are just left huge on me everywhere else.

Has anyone come across a good brand of jeans that have fit well post-pregnancy?

  • I found that very low waisted jeans worked great after pregnancy.

I can't remember the brand (I've since passed them on to another pregnant friend), but the pair I had was pretty stretchy and were not maternity, I wore then until 7 months as they were low enough to be under the belly. I was able to get back into them about a week after having M.

I had a pair from old navy, but after about a month of wear they stretched out too much. My most recent have been from Zara, so far they are holding up.

Other pre-pregnancy jeans however are a different story and even now 3 years later, I can't do them up. Man, pregnancy hips suck.

No joke!  I thought my hips were at their widest after having Leo, since you know, having a baby makes them bigger.  Nope, now they're even wider after Jax.  This totally friggin' blows!

  • I wear Evans own brand jeans. I can't afford to buy expensive jeans because I go through them in 3-4 months. Its like one of those your Mamma is so fat jokes... I am so fat that my jeans/cargo trousers break on the thighs every 3-4 months and I need to replace them.

Oooh, I have never heard of them but looking at the website I think those look good!  Jeans made for women with hips, finally! lol

  • leggings & tunics. Seriously though, you're only 1 month pp, right? I still have a pooch 9 months later... well, now I'm pregnant again... I don't think its ever going away. I would buy a size up or two to fit the belly but look frumpy. Give it another month and it should be better!

I wore LOTS of leggings/tights/tunics/dresses in various combos for the first couple months. How far are you jeans from buttoning? I also started wearing my Bella Bands from early pregnancy with my pre-preg jeans until I could button them! Now that I am 10 months post partum, I still haven't had the balls the buy new jeans. I "fit" in my old ones, but they are weirdy weirdy weird in lots of places. Like, for example, having the baby did something weird to my butt.

  • Yeah, you're a month out. There's no WAY those jeans should fit you. I can barely fit in mine now. Certainly after BRuce I had to buy new jeans just becuase the styles I had before didn't fit and I was under weight by that point by 5 lbs (this was after a year, not quickly). Most women I know find their body shape changes even if they end up at the same weight so its not unusual to find that your clothes simply don't fit or dont' fit the way they used to. I'd stick to some leggings/tunics or buy some new jeans. Gap curvy might be good. I liked Levi curvy last time I was in, too. They were tighter in the waist with a lot of room in the hips.
  • I can fit into some of my pre-pregnancy jeans, but have bought new ones - even then I have the world's worst muffin top happening. It's disgusting. (Oddly my hips were something that didn't change, but then i was always wide before babies - my thin pre-preg tummy disappeared with barely a wave of it's flab-free hand...) I am 9 months PP and it's sheer laziness and greed that means I'm still a stone over my pre-M weight, and 3 over my pre-W weight. I suck.
    Mum to W (4) and M (nearly 2)
  • Welshgirl, I am at least 5 stone over my pre-pg weight with James, and he is 3.5 years old. (And I have actually picked up 3 stone since having him)
