B has been doing this weird suckling thing for the past week or so and I can't figure out why. He's making the same suckling motion he would while eating or with a pacifier with nothing in his mouth. At first I thought this was a hunger thing and would try to feed him....he doesn't want to eat. Then I thought maybe he wanted his pacifier....nope. He doesn't want to suck on anything. I'm wondering if he is having a reaction to something we've fed him and is itchy. I know when my allergies are bad, the roof of my mouth itches and suckling like that can help. My Dad suggested that he is actually rubbing his tongue over his gums, which may hurt due to teething.
So....has anybody else's kid done this? Any ideas why? Just something he's doing?
Thanks!
Re: BWLO: Question
What kind of allergies do you have? Does your DH have any?
I haven't seen this, I definitely think it's a good idea to ask your pedi. I am the same as you with my allergies which are horrible right now. The back of my throat gets really inflamed and itchy, and I could see how that would soothe him. It also might just be a soothing technique he developed somewhere along the line, like if he lost his paci in his sleep or something.
I hope it turns out to be no big deal.
