Embroidering on ribbon...

Someone posted a question about this and I just disregarded it...silly me! Anyway what was the function on the machine that allowed you to embroider a word on the ribbon?
What machines do that? I'm looking for a new machine, as mine is 40 years old and am finding new features that I may want, etc...

I have a "higher end" machine and I also have a "lower end" machine. They both will embroider on ribbon. The only machine setting that I know of is the usual "embroidery mode" (unless your machine is simply embroidery and not a combo).
It is no different than any other embroidery except that the thread shoud be a lighter weight.
