Has anyone used PROACTIVE SOLUTION while pregnant??

Hi Everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone has used Proactive Solution while pregnant?? I'm driving myself crazy lately (and being really hard on myself) about it. I'm pregant and I've used Proactive for a long time. It's the only thing that helps maintain my skin well. The cleanser has 2.5% benzoyl peroxide in it and the repairing lotion does as well. I've asked my doctor and they won't give me a straight answer on it. So I feel guilty using it!!! And obviously don't want to use it if I shouldn't while pregnant. However, others say it's FINE to use - benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. So I'm very confused and guilty and unsure what I should do! I'm looking to see if anyone else has used it and had healthy babies, etc..

If you have used this or know someone who has while pregnant, can you tell me your thoughts??

I need your advice!

Thank you :(

Re: Has anyone used PROACTIVE SOLUTION while pregnant??

  • No, I stopped at the advise of my OB. It's the salicylic acid that is the problem. The funny thing is I had the clearest skin of my life once I hit the second tri and until I delivered. Once my hormones straightened out after delivery my skin went back to crap. I'm exclusively breastfeeding and don't want to take any chances so I'm suffering with the bad skin for now.

You can look online for a face wash that just contains benzoyl peroxide if you still want to use something but feel better about it.

    GL!

  • Hi! Thanks for your reply!  Proactive has Benzoyl Peroxide - it's 2.5% of it in both the cleanser and the repairing lotion.  I don't believe there's salicylic acid in it?

    Anyone else have any thoughts?
  • I think I answered this on the N Jersey board but as an esthetician, I would not use anything w/ salicylic that stays on the skin. I would think the face wash would be okay because it's not penetrating but definitely not a topical. Sorry!
