We're looking for a family eye doctor- specifically for Elijah who is almost 4 but we'll all end up going to the same place.
I've looked at the following online but have no clue how to narrow it down to which one to pick, too many choices! lol
Casco Bay Eyecare
Harbor View Eye Care
Giles Eye Care
Maine Family Eye Care
Any suggestions (even if not listed)?
Re: Recommend an eye doctor?
DH and I go to Giles Eye Care. (Just as an FYI, Tracy Giles is a dude- not what I expected when I showed up the first time!) We both like him. The office is small, but the staff is friendly and competent, and Dr. Giles is mellow and good at what he does, or so we think! I like that he's got an online system for ordering contacts- very handy for an online type of gal like me!
His on site lens guy Jim is also great. When James totally wanked both of the arms of my glasses in reverse earlier this year, the guy made a few calls to get replacement arms and was able to get it fixed up in less than a week. He also took the time to try to get the arms angled right since my ears are crooked.
I like the location because it's right down the street from me- I've walked home after having my eyes dilated since I couldn't drive- although getting in and out of the parking lot can sometimes be a little scary if you are making lefts. And they don't have tons of hours being a small office, which can be a pain if you just need to swing in for something quick but they aren't close to your work location. Those really my only complaints.
Agreed! Actually, Mrs. ErikaMay recommended them to me awhile back and DH and I have since both gone and loved it there...friendly staff, Dr. Giles was great and we were happy with the new type of contacts he suggested for us, so we're sold.
I used to order contacts from Lensmart.com, but decided to just order right through the office this time and they shipped them for free to me, which was great - and included all the rebate forms that were relevant to my brand.
As she mentioned, the hours are a little inconvenient...I work odd hours, so I didn't have a problem, but DH waited awhile to get in.
We go to Harbor View Eye care in South Portland - on Broadway across from JP Thorton's. I used to see Dr. Heward years ago, and now am seeing Dr. "K". Nice practice. My Mom has been going for years.
