So I am a few weeks late, but it took me a while to get his pictures on the computer. His party day was stressful...
At 2am on Saturday morning our power went out. I didn't think much of it at that time, but when I got up at 6 it was still out. I called the energy company and they said that it should be back on within 12-24 hours. I started to slightly freak out. We were supposed to take Parker's 1 year pictures at 8:30 and then his party was at 5:30. I had to get the meat in the crockpot by 8am. Since I couldn't shower or put the meat in the crockpot we decided to pack up and drive to Rusty's parents house 40 minutes away to get ready and have my MIL cook the meat. On our way back home to take pictures we decided that if our power wasn't on by noon we would make a decision on what to do. We thought about moving the party to Sunday or try to find a park to have it at (which would be difficult because parks and rec is closed on the weekends).
We get to Kansas University campus (where we are meeting our friend to take pictures) at about 8:45 and it starts pouring down rain. We wait it out for 15 minutes and it finally stops. We start taking pictures, but 10 minutes it the humidity hits us like a freight train. Needless to say I look like sh!t in all of the pictures. I'm exhausted, stress, and frizzy. Oh well. I got annoyed at Rusty because everytime we take pictures he steals Parker and they always have tons of pictures of the 2 of them and there are hardly any of Parker and I. I blew it off thinking that we would get pictures of just me and Parker at his party later.
Pictures took an hour or so and when we got home I hit the garage door opener and it worked!!! We finally got out power back! When it came time for his party I was busy trying to get everything cooked and served that I didn't get to spend time with our families. Then after that I was stuck cleaning up and getting cake ready. Then I was the one who got to open all of his gifts all by myself while Rusty played with him and got tons more pictures of the 2 of them. I'm still sad thinking about only having 2 pictures of my son and I on his birthday and those ones are the same pose and not even at his party. Our friend is our photographer so I think I am going to ask her if she would mind taking some pictures of just Parker and I. I hate always being behind the camera.
Anyho...here are Parker's professional 1 year pictures:

And here are some from his party...
Re: Parker's Bday (long)
I completely understand what you mean by always being behind the camera... when we took Wyatt's 9 month pics yesterday Lance took a couple of pictures but they didn't turn out well (you can't just point and shoot a DSLR as he seems to think) so he and Wyatt have a whole bunch of awesome pictures together but no good ones of just me and him. It makes me sad, so I know where you're coming from... and your hubby does seem like a baby hog in front of the camera lol.
He is a baby hog! But I guess I would rather have that than a dad that didn't want anything to do with his kid.
I think I will do a mommy and me shoot in a couple months when I am getting done breastfeeding. I think I want some tasteful pictures of us nursing together.

Sorry everyting was so stressful!
Maybe try a tripod? We are getting one on the advice of a friend who has some great family shots from it.
I didn't see this yesterday before I posted. One of the mom's I nannied for had some beautiful pictures of her breastfeeding with all 5 of her children at various ages. They were very tasteful, she said they are some of her favorite pictures to look back on.
Cute pictures!! Too bad the day/party was stressful for you... If you do a photo reshoot with just you and Parker maybe you can make it an entire day for just the two of you to make up for his b-day.
