Have you kept your hair basically the same over the years or do you change it often? Well its always been straight. Its gotten shorter over the years as I realize that fine, thin stick straight hair does not necessarily look good long
Do you color your hair? At home or professionally? How often? No not anymore. I ruined my hair by coloring it in my 20s. It took forever to get the damaged brassy crap to grow out and after the last bit of that was gone I swore I wouldn't dye it again until I really had to, as in started getting a lot of grays. Also, I am a cheapo and could never shell out the money for professional coloring and maintenance.What length is your hair most often? Usually between chin and shoulders somewhere. When I was in high school and college it was always long (like middle of my back).
Do you currently have bangs? Have you in the past 5 years? I started wearing sideswept bangs about 3 years ago. I feel they are the best of both worlds.
How high maintenance is your current style? What do you do to style it? Its a long bob that is slightly longer in the front and is pretty low maintenance. I wash it about every other day, blow dry with root lifter. On the days I don't wash it I put some dry shampoo in it which gives it some body and texture.
Are you planning a new hair cut soon? No I just got one a few weeks ago
What was your most drastic hair cut? Did you end up liking it? Haha, when I was about to go into middle school I got the femme-mullet. You guys remember this around 1988.....permed, layered, shorter on top and cut above the ears. Hideous! Of course I thought I was really cool

How high maintenance is your current style? What do you do to style it? - Not very... I use some spray gel to control my waves, then blow dry/flat iron just my bangs and hairspray them off to the side b/c otherwise they're in my eyes all day. That, at least, is my usual daily hairstyle.

What was your most drastic hair cut? Did you end up liking it? - Probably going from pretty long to shorter (mid-neck) - this, of course, was post-wedding.

How often? - No. I used to experiment in high school/some in college, but stopped coloring it well before our wedding so that I didn't have roots to deal w/ and have never gone back to coloring it... I'm too lazy for the upkeep! I can see possibly going for highlights at some point in the future, but that would be about the extent, and I'd do that professionally if I would decide to.

It's a weird type of hair (not wavy, not curly, just a frizzy mess if air dried) and I can't (read "have not learned how to") do it in other ways. It's either dried straight or manageable waves with a curling iron.

How high maintenance is your current style? What do you do to style it? I wish it was lower maintenance. It's thick so it takes about 25 minutes to dry and then I have to flat iron it. If I curl it, it takes about 20.

What was your most drastic hair cut? Did you end up liking it? When I was five, the place that cut my hair gave out lollipops. One day, I wanted a lollipop so I told my mom I wanted to go get a hair cut. She took me, they chopped it, I looked like a boy and I got zilch for it. No lollipop...just a bunch of tears and knowing I looked like a boy.

What was your most drastic hair cut? Did you end up liking it? Most drastic is when I cut my hair from mid back to shoulders (wanted to do shorter but I was scared and did it in phases)...loved it! DH wasn't happy at me at first when he knew I was going to cut it, but he loved it immediately when he saw it.

What was your most drastic hair cut? Did you end up liking it? I went from mid-back to really short back in high school and kept it that way though my 3rd year of college. I LOVED it! But it got expensive to keep up with because I had to go get a trim every few months to make sure the style held it's shape. I am however, thinking about going back to something similar. I also have the "it's only hair" philosophy and have no problem chopping it all off from time to time because it'll grow back.
Do you color your hair? At home or professionally? How often? I dyed my hair from about the time I was 13 until I was 26 (right after I got married) all different shades of reds and browns. Then I told DH I wasn't going to dye it anymore because if I had to live with my grays (and I have quite a bit), then so would he. It finally all grew out and I embraced it. Well, DH really started complaining the beginning of this year so I thought, what the heck, and finally dyed it again back in July. I loved the color but now it's growing out and I'm debating if I want to have the upkept going again or not. It was fun to change my color all the time, but I'm kinda not feeling having to dye it every 3-4 months. To answer the second part, I always dyed it at home with the exception of a handful of times when I went to the salon. I was always way happier with my results though and never quite liked the colors the salon used.

What length is your hair most often? Until a few years ago, my hair was pretty much always looooong. I'd had it short twice - once as a kid and I hated it, once in my early 20s and I liked it - but I preferred my hair super long. Then I had some insane thinning and brittleness (likely post-partum-related) and it just looked horrible, so my stylist convinced me to go short, and it's been that way since (even though it's healthy and thick again, thank goodness).
Do you currently have bangs? Have you in the past 5 years? I have swept bangs that I got about 4-5 years ago. Prior to that I had straight-across bangs for a year or two. I have a ginormous fivehead, so I need bangs, and I think the side swept are more flattering.
How high maintenance is your current style? What do you do to style it? Not at all. I adamantly refuse to spend time styling my hair. I take a shower, comb it, occasionally put some curl spray and/or smoothing cream in it, dry/flat-iron my bangs if I'm wearing them straight and that's it. I don't ever blow-dry the rest of my hair, and in fact, it looks best when I go to bed with wet hair and let it dry while I sleep.

What was your most drastic hair cut? Did you end up liking it? When I was a kid I wanted something different, so I had my Mom take me to a salon that my friend went to. I ended up looking like a poodle. I cried and cried, and learned the very important lesson of only going to stylists who know how curly hair works. It sounds ridiculous, but there is a HUGE difference, and if they don't know what they're doing, they can't make my curls look good.

I started going grey at 13 - it runs in the family - so I've been dying since I was a senior in high school. I've never done anything remotely resembling blond, but I've done lots of reds, browns, and blacks. Currently I have black highlights with a dark auburn all-over color and I looooove it. The black highlights were a stroke of genius on my hair dresser's part.
I refuse to color at home. I know it's SO much more economical, but I end up with dyed shower curtains, dyed eyebrows, dyed cats... I get that shiz everywhere. I hate it.

I do color my hair because I have quite a lot of grey hair already and with my hair being naturally dark brown, those grey's sparkle like a disco ball. I used to color my hair at home but have been getting it done since we moved into our new house a year ago. The bathroom is just way to nice to mess it up with color. I have to do it about every 2-3 month, after that the grey is getting ridiculous!

All my life I had long straight hair (like to my waist) and during the summer before HS I convinced my mom I wanted a change and my aunt chopped it to my chin. Ever since then it has been curly. I liked it for a while but I did miss my long hair. Took forever to get it back to the length I wanted.

My hair gets really brassy in the sun and then in the fall my roots start showing and my hair is naturally a really dark brown. So I dye it to all be my natural dark brown. Now this summer I was not out in the sun much at all so I may not need to dye it. I usually hold my ends up to my roots and make sure there isn't too much of a difference. I'm a weirdo!

(see: 2 months overdue for a cut) So...I wash it and put it in a pony tail and hope for the best. When it's actually cut I'm still pretty wash-n-go. Like LLHR (I still want to call you FIA) it looks better if I let it dry while I sleep, so I've developed a bizarre morning schedule where I wake up, walk the dog, take a shower, blowdry my bangs, mousse the rest of it and then go back to sleep for an hour. (the hair is not the only reason I do this...but it's a nice side benefit)

What was your most drastic hair cut? Did you end up liking it? - The night before the last day of 8th grade I went from halfway down my back to a crew cut. I loved it when she did it, I loved it when I washed it and rinsed it in about 2 seconds flat...I hated it about 12 minutes after I walked into school and my BFF told me that it looked bad and then a boy in homeroom laughed at me. Despite that i never let it grown out past my chin through high school. I grew it out again in college, and haven't cut it short since.

I'm a little vain about my natural color so I'm afraid of coloring it. not that it's that special or anything - it's just brown, but it's got a lot of nice natural highlights that show up in the sun and I don't want to cover them up.
