New Utilities

Hi Everyone!

DH and I are looking into buying a house closer to our job (about a 1 1/2 commute closer!) Problem is, they utilities are going to be higher. Does anyone know of a good site I could visit that would give us an idea of what the going utility rates/costs are for the area?

I'm asking around work, but it's weird how few people actually look at their bill before they just pay it... :-/

Re: New Utilities

  • Have you spoken to a REA in the area you'd like to move to yet? They will be able to give you this information.

  • THe utility company will give you an average monthly costs, high low month for any address you are considering.

You can the utility company and ask how much a bill for  __x__ kwh would be or how much for __y__ units of water,   ___ccf_ of gas would be etc. to compare your current useage with their rates.  Remember your useage may change in a new setting due to windows, insulation, enegy efficient (or lack there of) furnace, water heater etc.
