QOTD: Hump day

This is an interesting one.

Is there a special day you wish you could relive?

Re: QOTD: Hump day

  • Our wedding day or the morning DS was born.

Both of those went by in a blur. I thought videos of these events would be silly at the time. Looking back I kind of wish we had them!

  • I want a do-over on the day before our wedding.  My mom and I got into a fight that could have been avoided, had we handled a conversation differently.  Something that I thought was no big deal to handle the way I did was hurtful to her.  We didn't really get along for two or three years after that, and it certainly put a less than happy spin on the way she and I got through my wedding.  (Plus 5 years later and she still can't stand my BFF, who I think mom thinks overstepped some boundaries.)

So I would want to relive that day to be a little more mindful of my mom's feelings and hopefully avoid a lot of years of not getting along.

  • I'd like to relive any day with my grandfather.  I miss him so much.
  • Two choices:

    1. The last time I went to breakfast with my dad--early May 2005. He passed away several weeks later.

    2. October 27, 2004--The day the Red Sox won their first World Series. Coming from several genearations of Red Sox fans and being brought up to believe it never happen in my lifetime (or in my dad's--who died the next year), the day they won was just awesome. Ok, I feel really stupid admitting how great this day was.

  • Probably my wedding. It was a great day but I was just tipsy enough that the details aren't as crisp in my memory as I'd like. Plus, DH and I got in a silly argument at the end of the night that could have been avoided.

Change grandfather to grandmother and this is me.  My heart aches for her somedays.

Seriously.  It was a great day.  Everything about that day was magical for me.  I felt amazing, I had a fabulous hair day, I decided to move south with my bf (now DH), I found out I aced 2 tests and the red sox won.  And the moon!!!!  Ugh. Man, that was awesome.

this exactly. we also got into a dumb argument at the end of the night!

but most of the day was so freaking awesome...both DH and I have said many times that we wish we could go relive it. we had the best time. (now excuse the vanity in the coming words) plus, I when I look at the pictures/video, I was so pretty and skinny and tan and YOUNG looking... *sigh*...it would be nice to feel that away again.

  • I think are wedding day was so fun and it would be fun to do it all over again. We joke about having a 10 year party at the resort we got married in and inviting all the same people.

Also, we went to the Keys several years ago and went out to the Marquesas and the Dry Tortugas and it was so cool. We always say we want to go back because it was such an awesome combination of perfect weather, beautiful scenery, being on a catamaran, not care in the worl and snorkeling kind of day.

  • DH's proposal. He proposed to me at our university's homecoming dance, on stage in front of hundreds of people! I had suspected it was coming, but was still shocked (like a deer in headlights as he says). He says it took what seemed like forever for me to go up on stage, then claims I never actually said yes, but just hugged him. I swear I said yes... but honestly, it was such a blur that I'd love to hit replay and find out who's right!

Ditto this. The wedding day because it was so great and just flew by, DS's birth day because there were things I would have done a little differently. (But still, obviously, best day ever and all that.)

  • I'd like to be proposed to again. I was just coming home from a long work trip, I'd picked up some airplane virus, and was truly shocked when the proposal happened. Plus we saw Emmylou Harris at the Birchmere afterwards and I wish I'd been able to pay attention to the concert.

  • @kafunder: i was living in australia when the sox won in 2004 so i'd have loved to have been stateside for that. the aussies couldn't fully understand why that was so incredibly exciting for me. i was glad that my grandparents got to see it as it was a first for them too!

i'd love to experience our wedding again. it was really wonderful day and even though i did soak it in, it still flew by too quickly.

DH's proposal is right up there too because it was so unexpected and sweet.

  • I have two:

    1) the day DH proposed. It was so sweet and unexpected. I would love to experience it again.

    2) the day the Ohio State Buckeyes won the National Championship in January 2003...it was so freaking awesome. The city of Columbus was bursting with pride and it was just awesome to be in the city after we won. Plus I wouldn't be so nervous now knowing the outcome :)

  • I think mine would be our wedding day. It went by so fast, and I'd love to go back and be able to really take everything in.

Close runner up would be one of the days of our honeymoon. I'm not sure which day I'd choose, but I wish I could relive the entire thing!

  • College graduation. I loved my undergraduate school with the white hot intensity of a thousand burning suns, and knowing now that is it the last time that I will ever live with all my closest friends right there, I would go back and soak in more of that day, and have heartfelt goodbyes with my friends, and be sure I actually said goodbye to all of them. With everything that goes on that day, all the families in the mix, and trying to move out of the dorms, saying goodbye to people slipped through the cracks.

I was going to say that if I had to relive one whole year it would be my senior year of college. It was AWESOME. Amazing friends, I turned 21, made good decisions in academia and the job world, started dating DH, UMD won the national bball championship. I would relive that year again and again.

Yup. A seriously great day. I printed out a color printout of the front page of the Boston Globe and framed it. It hung on my wall for years (I only took it down so that DH would take down his Minnesota Vikings stuff).

  • And for me, I'd relive either our wedding or the day LO was born.

I'd relive LO being born to deal with my parents differently than we did but mainly to hear his first cry again and to see him for the first time again. With his early arrival, we weren't sure if he'd need to go to the NICU and I'd been in labor for so long, so his first screams were the best sounds I have ever heard. And my memories of the first moments are a bit foggy because of the anesthesia and sleep deprivation.

I do agree with cep that college graduation would be awesome to relive. I feel the same way about my alma mater and my college friends.

This.  Our honeymoon was one of the best most relaxing vacations I have ever been on. I am afraid to go back (to the location) for fear it won't be as good and it will ruin the memories.

  • Hmm...to relive exactly as is - the day we arrived in England. It was our first big trip together and we were so excited to be there. It was our "belated honeymoon" (3 years late). We both escaped our crazy, busy lives and really enjoyed the time we had together.

To relive in order to change things - we were one of the first in my group of friends to get married. Even though I had the Knot, there were things that just completely slipped my mind or that I didn't know about that I've learned from many other weddings. At the time it seemed great, but I learn so much more with every wedding I go to!
