I just saw the first commercial for it yesterday and now everyone is talking about it.
Am I the only one that thinks it is totally fugtastic? It just reminds me of bad Austin Powers getups. It actually hurts my eyes. I think maybe some of the kids pieces could be ok, or maybe a small accessory, but OMG the head-to-toe stuff....I feel like its going to give me a seizure just by looking at it.
Re: Also-Missoni at Target
Ugh, today is my "day off" or evening off so I was going to go to Target for a bunch of stuff but I didn't realize this Missoni thing was happening today. Maybe it won't be so bad by this evening? I'm mostly going for baby stuff, not clothes for myself.
And Target's new website SUCKS!!! I've already complained about this on FB and I emailed Target's customer service about it but damn.

that's kind of what I am wondering....is there some sort of cult following I am not aware of? Is there some story behind this stuff?
missoni is a popular high end brand/designer.
OK....I still don't get it though.
Honestly, I think there are some people who really love the line but I think there's just as many who don't love it but it's a :gasp: high end designer making affordable clothes for Target and high end must = fashionable!
Like I said, there's maybe 3 things I'd wear but I wouldn't buy them. If the clothing fairy left them on my doorstep then fine haha otherwise no thanks. The launch of the clothing online totally crashed their site this morning, it's insane.
I'm not a fan of the all over crazy stripe look, but I plan on going to Target this evening on my way home and hope to get a few things. I really like the chunky heels, will probably get a scarf (or two!), and possibly a pair of tights.
I tend to wear a lot of neutrals to work, so the bright stripes will be a quick and easy way to add small bits of color to my outfits.
I totally thought this when I saw the commercial. There are way too many dizzying patterns/colors competing for my taste.
Oh I definitely think some of it is cute - but in pieces, not as whole outfits.
As for the obsession with it though - it's not different than any other thing like this, where people are basically told they "have" to have something and they all go bonkers for it, whether or not they actually like it. It's marketing at its finest.
If you're basing this on the Target previews they've totally overdone it on the models. Missoni isn't really meant to be a head to toe look. If you're basing it on Missoni's look in general, like everything else some people like it and some don't.

The clothes seem like decent quality. I got two sweaters. One that is basically plain black with a zigzag trim and an open chevron pattern tunicy sweater thing. It was uber comfy and will be good for fall and winter. Both pieces are pretty versatile, and while they were out of my normal cheapass range, I think I will get a lot of wear out of them. It IS a bit expensive, and I especially thought the kids stuff was way over priced.
Yes-the images I keep seeing are the ones of the models with hat, dress, tights etc all different designs. It really caught me off guard. I thought it was some sort of joke.
Yeah. Those are a little ridiculous - like they were really trying to get their money's worth out of each shot. If you look at the individual pieces you might like them a bit more. Missoni has grown on me over the years. Their high end pieces are beautifully made - and I always welcome a little splash of color, so I'm excited about the Target line.

I don't get it either - I think it's all so ugly! I think there were a few cute little girl pieces but that's it. Some woman had her cart loaded with it. Luggage, shoes, clothes - you name it. If they had it, it went in her cart.
I'm not surprised. I think a lot of high end things are atrocious. I think almost all things Louis Vuitton are beyond fugly.
Someone's getting a little brother!
She's probably selling it on ebay. The stuff is already up there at three or four times the Target price.
Lol. I'm glad I'm not the only one! After I read that line I wandered over to eBay to comfort myself with old steamer trunk images for a good 10 minutes.

Haha, sorry...I knew I'd probably offend some but it was the first example that came to mind!

Your not alone. DH was watching the news this morning and he was shocked that anyone would buy $2400 worth of clothes. I had to explain it was high end brand selling at Target. He just walked out of the room. LOL
I had never heard of it until this post.
