Those Who have Charted Please Come in.....

Question for you all - I know your temperature drops when your period is coming? Any idea how long it'll drop before you get your period?

I"ve been below my coverline for 2 days, but no AF yet.

My skin however looks like I'm 13. Joy!

  • I'm zero help here (sorry!), just wondering if you're charting to avoid or conceive?! :)   I keep wanting to chart, but last time I tried it for 2 months, I found myself wanting to "test it out" (pardon the semi-pun) and see if we could get KU, but we're waiting another year lol.

  • I usually would get AF on the third day my temps dropped.  They never got below the cover line though before AF showed up.

Charting to TTC. To be honest - we've only been giving it about a 75% effort. I went off the pill in June and wanted to chart b/c I was convinced I wasn't ovulating. Honestly - I've loved it. I feel like I have such a better understanding of my body now, and this month it'll be easier to give it a full effort. I'd totally test it out if I were you - it's really insightful!

  • I've had some drop just below the cover line before while still about mid-luteal phase, but I usually have a severe temp drop the day before or day that AF shows up. It may help if you know how many DPO you are, most luteal phases are 8-16 days if I remember right. But once you figure out how long yours usually is, it pretty much stays around there always, mine are 13-14 days, so I know that I can expect AF those many DPO and look out for my temp drop.

I sent you a friend request.  You may have to scroll through my profile a bit to find where the photographer tagged me in the ones on her page.  She is dropping off the disc with all the pics tomorrow, I'm super excited!!!

  • Well - I just answered my own question.

    Just got AF :(

I know I shouldn't really be discouraged. I have had a 30 day cycle and now a 28. I ovulated on day 15 and had a 13 day leutal phase. All good things. But I still feel defeated :(

I even had good "every other day" timing this past month.

    :Sigh:

oh well, upward and onward I suppose.

*Hugs* lady! I'm sure it will happen very soon! Sending tons of baby dust your way!

Also, when I went off BCP the first time last year my skin was AWFUL, so I feel your pain, have you tried LUSH? I began using their facial cleansers (they're all natural) and it helped a lot. That is until I went back on BCP and started seeing a derm and went back on Rx acne meds. This time surprisingly my skin is ok, but I'm back to my LUSH coal face and phresh pharmacy face soaps and it's keeping the breakouts at bay.

*I totally know what you mean!!!  This is exactly how I felt last week when I messaged you.  ugh. this sucks.*

  • I'm still awaiting AF. I'm usually a 27-28 day girl. I'm on day 31 now. Which isn't bad but I'm usually down to the hour normal. We've been TTA this cycle per doctor's orders. Once I get AF, we'll have the green light.

I don't temp but I'm considering starting now.

I know the defeated feeling too. Suck. And I'm breaking out like a 13 year old right with you girls!

  • For me it usually was only a day or two for me that it would be down. Not even always below the coverline, but it would definitely be going down.

  • Just checked after I posted, and saw that you said that AF finally came.

Another thing to consider if you don't know if you are ovulating forsure is doing OPK's.  I know on the GP board that a lot of girls use them.

I have read that Charting is more accurate than OPK's. I did the OPK's for two months but am stopping them because I found the results were not as crystal clear as charting.

That could be. I never tried, I just know that a lot of girls chart and do the OPK's. Good luck with everything though!

I've always felt charting was more accurate than just using OPKs. Last cycle I charted and began using the IC (Internet Cheapie) OPKs, and they were pretty confusing. Sometimes the line is *almost* there but not quite and it's hard to read. I think using the digital Clear Blue Easy OPK with the smiley face would probably be the easiest to read, but those things are expensive. This cycle though, I will say, my CM and CP did not line up with the OPK results, but it appears that I did ovulate when I got the + OPK, and then everything else lined up showing a more clear pattern of O afterwards. Also, it's possible to be using OPKs and miss the surge if you aren't testing a few times a day it seems. I happened to catch mine this cycle by testing like 3 times a day. I will continue using the OPKs, but I place my faith more heavily in charting and monitoring the 3 fertility signs.

That is crazy, I mean who has time to POAS multiple times a day!

THIS! to a TEE! The first month I got a crystal clear positive line - after that it was always debatable - just not worth the money!

  • Btw just wanted to say, it's good to know that the OPK's aren't worth the money that way I'll never be tempted to go buy them.
