Appraisal Finally scheduled

After bugging the bank to finally get the ball rolling, the realtor just texted me that they contacted her today and scheduled the appraisal for Thursday at 3pm. I can't wait until this nightmare is over. I just want to get in all ready!

What should I expect at the appraisal? Any questions I should ask in particular? Should I bring anything with me? And how long after the appraisal do they usually print the report? TIA! You guys are great!

Re: Appraisal Finally scheduled

  • I didn't come to the appraisal. I was just sent the paperwork in the mail a few weeks later.

  • We did not go to the appraisal. IN fact we didn't even know it was completed until after it was done. Our appraisal was done on a Friday and we didn't get the report until the following Friday. Took forever!

  • The appraisal isn't something that you typically go to (ever go to?)

The bank orders the appraisal, and they go through the selling agent to get access. Most of the time the buyer and buyer's agent aren't involved until the report is ready.

  • As with pps, we did not go to the appraisals for any of the homes we purchased.  I was there for appraisal done for the refi for our rental.  He went through the home, took pictures and measurements of every room and then left.  It isn't something that you actually "participate" in too much.  In all cases, we received the appraisal a few days later.
