Northern OBX must sees/dos/eats
we are in Corolla for the week and have had beautiful weather so far! it's expected to be overcast and rainy tomorrow and Friday, so i'm thinking about activities we can do off the beach (we are truly beach bums and would otherwise be content to spend all day every day of vacation lounging on the beach).
we have the kids and my parents, so activities should be family and budget friendly!
thanks!

Re: Northern OBX must sees/dos/eats
We were just there last week (in Corolla) and also had beautiful weather!
We had one day where it was supposed to rain, so our plan was to go the aquarium on Manteo--we've been before and it's a good aquarium. However, the road flooded, and we ended up shopping and having lunch in Duck before turning around.
Weather permitting, pack a picnic and head over to the Currituck Lighthouse/Whalehead. There is a wetlands naturewalk (very short) that we always take out to the sound.
I highly recommend getting some Duck Donuts at some point...and we think the Tomato Patch pizza is decent.
Have fun!
We love the aquarium in Manteo! The Wright brothers memorial in KDH is also good for kids and cheap. Food wise - def check out John's drive-in in Kitty Hawk. They have the best milkshakes you've ever had (food is decent too!) and the kids can concoct whatever flavors they can imagine. Nags Head fishing pier has great food, an amazing ocean-front view, and arcade games for the kiddos. I actually recently posted to my blog about some good food spots... check it out

I know you can't do this if it's raining, but Jockey's Ridge for a sunset is nice.
There's a small outlet in the area, too, if you like outlet shopping.
