My husband and I had planned on staying in Korea for a while (a few more years) but have possibly had a change of heart.
We are both finished our contracts in Jan/Feb and have our first baby due in early Feb.
We have our place until the end of Feb so we are thinking of finding a sublet for March and then heading to Canada for 5 months or so (hoping to get new jobs in a new place for the start of September). We just think it would be a nice time to be around family, and to have some time off together with the baby.
My real question is would it be insane to fly with a baby as young as 6 weeks? I know its allowed after 1-2 weeks depending on airlines but would you do it?

We flew with M at about 6 weeks from Saigon to Hong Kong. Much shorter than what you're going to do, but it went great. They sleep so much at that age.
His Canadian passport took about 2 weeks to get once we brought all the paperwork and application to the Canadian Consulate. I believe the passports were processed at the Embassy in HK and didn't need to be sent back to Ottawa, that's why it was so fast.
If you haven't already, go to the Canadian Embassy/Consulate and ask them what you will need in terms of papers, translations, etc... to get the passport and citizenship ASAP after the birth.
This. Flying with a baby at that age would be 'easy' in the sense that it will mostly just sleep and eat off and on, which is perfect. Bring outfit changes and such, but the baby is pretty low maintenance. But I would talk to your consulate about times and procedures for birth certificates. Friends of ours who have played abroad had issues getting the local version of teh birth certificate more than anything else, so check into that.

Thanks for all the advice! I have to set up at meeting at the Canadian Embassy soon anyway so I will add all of this to my list of things to inquire about.
