craft/gift suggestion for a caseworker
After over 2.5 years with us, we are FINALLY adopting our son. He was placed with us as a foster child in March 2009.
Anyway, our caseworker has been really great with us - through the good and the bad.
I would like to give her a gift at finalization to show her my gratitude. I want to stay away from food. I am a general crafty person, plus I sew a ton.
Any suggestions? Maybe a great tote since she is always carrying around papers and such? Any other ideas? It does not need to be a craft, can be anything.
Thanks
Re: craft/gift suggestion for a caseworker
I'd say a great tote bag! It would be easy to personalize and I bet she would appreciate it.
And HELLO! CONGRATULATIONS on the adoption!

A tote sounds great.
Not sure if you can check with anyone else where she works, but sometimes people in her position are not allowed to accept gifts. If that is the case, there may be a charity affiliated to which you could make a gift in her name.
Where I work we aren't allowed to accept gifts, including the people in the social services department. However, if a family sends something to the entire unit (generally food or flowers), we're allowed to accept it.
Definitely call and see what the protocol is. If nothing else, you can write her a heartfelt letter and even get the rest of your family to write letters as well.
Congratulations on finally adopting your son!!! It'll be nice to see an unblurry picture of him in your siggy!
Congratulations!! How wonderful for your family.
Ditto pp's on gift ideas.
Congratulations on your adoption!!
I am a social worker for children in foster care and I know our agency allows us to accept gifts up to around $25 but anything of more value than that is typically not allowed.
I like the idea of a tote bag, or sometihng for the desk like a pencil cup and a letter tray or something like that.
hope that helps
