Signed his papers yesterday and is now officially enlisted in the Marines. He is only 18 so I have mixed feelings about this. He will leave for boot camp in March.
Re: My little brother
My cousin recently enlisted in the Navy and is doing so fantastic, her life has direction and meaning now and she just got married in Pensacola where she is stationed. She is loving FL and loving Navy life and couldn't be happier.
Like the PP said, if someone is stuck in a rut or not sure where they want to go and school is not for them, this helps set them a path for a long-term future and career. It's a great move. DH was a Marine, he's very proud of it!
My cousin is in the Army. He spent 2 consecutive years in Iraq as a logistics contractor, so I new this was likely the direction he would go. He seems to like it, like everything else there are some days that are better than others
He thought he would get orders overseas shortly after basic, but it hasn't happened yet.
My husband is ex-marines, too. Ooh-rah!
