Need furniture store recommendations
DH and I moved here 3 years and have only bought nursery furniture since moving. Now we're looking at getting all new living room/family room furniture. We have a baby and an (aging) cat so we want something of decent quality that can stand up to wear and tear, but nothing too expensive since I know it'll get beat up. We're thinking we would like a sectional couch and a new coffee table. Any suggestions as to where to get something nice but for a decent price?
Re: Need furniture store recommendations
When we moved into our house 3 years ago, we bought most of our stuff at Belfort and Macy's. The leather couches we got at Belfort have held up especially well, given that we have two toddlers crawling, drooling, and climbing all over them. We also got two awesome couches, including one sectional, at Desi Living Innovations in Pentagon Row. They had great prices and you could really customize your sofa's and had a lot of fabric choices.
Ditto not going the Marlo route. I think the lower quality furniture might be ok if you just wanted some pieces to last till the kids are older, throw it out, and buy all new but not the way to go for durability.
Some love it, some hate it - but the advantage to Ikea stuff is, if the kid spills a juice box on your bright yellow couch - no biggie! Sixty bucks and a trip to Ikea will get you a new cover and a new(ish) couch.
Ditto Hamilton's, Belfort, Basset.
There's also Room & Board, Crate & Barrel, Arhaus and Greenfront.
