what would you wear?

I'm going to a networking event (my first one) tomorrow evening that's held at a hotel and according to the reminder about 200 people have RSVP'd.

I have never been to one so I don't want to be over or under dressed and stick out.

Should I wear my interview outfit (black suit set with a nice shell under) or a dress or go more casual? what do you recommend?

Re: what would you wear?

  • I'd wear a dress.

  • 98% of the people there will be in business attire.  Those who are not will look out of place.  Depending on the group, most will be in suits.  Even if this group is not the suit wearing kind, for your 1st trip you will still look professional which is so much better than looking silly b/c you are underdressed.

If you are really concerned, call the organizers & ask them.

  • I don't wear suits ever so I would do nice pants or skirt with a nice top. Definetly comfy shoes. They still need to be dress shoes but I would try to wear flats because I imagine you be standing/walking around a lot.
