Dress me - I need a new winter coat
I'm curvy small shoulders, big boobs, skinny waste and hips from hell.
I need a new coat for winter. I would prefer one I could zip this year
An every day coat and a tad bit nicer coat are what I'm after.
I'm fine with spending a couple hundred on each
Re: Dress me - I need a new winter coat
Ooo, I wish I could show you the coat I just bought from Rue La La about a month ago. Being one of those purchases, it must be last season and I can't find a picture for you. It's a lovely "pecan" (aka taupe) color, down jacket, mid-thigh length. It's kind of puffy, but has this totally cute belt that cinches in the waist so you don't look like a burned marshmallow. It's the only reason I'm looking forward to really cold weather now!
Found an image. Something like this should work for you..(FWIW, I have small sloped shoulders, and semi-hourglass/vaguely pear)

I like this one, it has a similar feel to mine but looks a little sportier and would be nice for an everyday jacket. The belt helps give you a waist. Hood is zip-off, which is a nice feature. Only thing that disappointed me in my coat was that it turned out to have kind of a funny collar that looked like a hood in the picture but turned out not to be. http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/guess-quilted-jacket-with-zip-off-hood/3195767?origin=category
I also think this trench is a nice update. Again, belt is key for you. You can button up to a high collar or leave it open and I find the double-breasted often fits and stays on my small shoulders better (but I don't know how that fits with larger chest) http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/calvin-klein-double-breasted-wool-coat/3196469?origin=category
Apparently I feel like looking at coats.
This one is SUPER cute and feminine, albeit pricey. http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/mcginn-sydney-ruffle-neck-belted-coat/3196554?origin=category
Like the assymetrical zip and collar on this, but it looks like where the placket lays flat would be too low, meaning right on the bust, which might make it look larger http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/guess-asymmetrical-zip-raincoat/3196241?origin=category
Thanks! I need go to Nordstrom and Macy's sometime this week, I'll check it out.
For some reason all I was looking at was Columbia and Northface, because that's the route I'd always gone before.
Those are more likely going to get you utilitarian looks, but sounds like maybe you need something more fun and fashionable.
Be sure to report back with what you end up with!!
that's cause you're from alaska

I got one similar to this last year, and I love it and can't wait to wear it again this year:

I also like this one:

But then again, I have a thing for pea coats.

I don't have time to search, but I would do something in this A line trench shape:

but not in plaid, unless you were looking for plaid...
