Anyone refinanced a home from overseas?
Was it relatively easy or was it a big pain? We are considering refinancing on our home back in the states now that the rates are so good, but we're not quite sure how big of a hassle it will be.
Re: Anyone refinanced a home from overseas?
I haven't had that scenario sepcifically, but I think you can do it. My dad gave me power of attorney to close on a house for him while he was overseas. I think that you can just give power of attorney (it can be only for that one transaction) to someone that you trust and they can go to the refinance closing for you.
ETA: It was pretty easy to do.

Thanks for the info.
Yes but we ended up in the end going back to the US to sign the actual paperwork. We planned the closing around the time we were going to be home anyway. It went fine. We compiled all the paperwork via email and the lender we worked with (MetLife) was awesome. Our title company worked hard to get everything done and make sure that all the ducks were in a row so we didn't have to come back.
Everyone knew we were working from overseas and was very helpful.
