playroom organization

i turned a dining room into a playroom for my little dd and how do i organize it , something cute and efficient.

Re: playroom organization

  • Oooh!  I want to do that too.  I'm still campaigning for it though...
  • I really want to get a bookshelf and put those 1' cube bins on it.  I love baskets and bins.

Be careful with those, my DD LOVES to dump them out, so if you do go for them, I suggest putting bigger stuff in them and not Little people or things like that that have to be sorted.

We have a low shelf with DD's Little People sets on top and the people and animals and cars and chairs/tables and whatnot in lidded bins below. For some reason the lid slows her down enough that she actually plays with the stuff more instead of dumping.

I suggest you look into organization that can be closed up or put away so it doesn't look like a daycare threw up. We battle that daily. Thankfully most of DD's toys are stored in the sunroom/ covered porch off of the kitchen, she is really the only one who goes in there, unless I am going in to clean it up.

  • I was totally lurking and saw this post and thought I would chime in. I hope thats ok.

We recently turned our dining area into a playroom as well and we bought the Expedit bookshelves from Ikea(we bought this one and one that is half the size.. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40047675). And we were actually able to find canvas bins at Target that fit them perfectly (the large fabric bins by ITSO)

We also got a few of the plastic drawer units for things like legos, blocks, and any other small parts. And a few of the hanging organizers for things like stuffed animals.

So far it has worked out really well for us and she is able to help clean up. And when its cleaned up it looks neat and organized.

    Best of luck!
