MAD at myself

I have to do this big huge report for work and it literally takes me DAYS to complete. It in Excel and has a ton of data and its filtered in all these crazy ways and then theres all these reports that i have to run on it (pivot tables if you know excel) and every month i have to re-do it with new data and it takes like 2 days total to refresh all the data and get it right to hand off to management.

So i finish it yesterday and send it to one guy to say its done...and I come in this morning and realize that i totally didnt filter the data correctly and now i have to RE-DO THE WHOLE THING. It's pretty much going to take me all day and i'm so angry with myself. If work isn't stressful enough, now i'm making stupid f-ing mistakes that are costing me MORE time that i just don't have.

ARG. I can't wait for this weekend to come.

ugh! I despise excel!!! We used to use it where I worked and it always screwed up stuff we were working on...pivot tables are a P.I.T.A too!!! We had to do an excel sheet up every morning for all the paperwork that came in from the drivers over the night and ther were times we would have it all done, go to print it and it would crash!

thanks ladies, unfortunately i know it will take me most of the day to refresh the report again, as each pivot table takes about 5-10 minutes to refresh each and there are probably 30 in the report, and then some I have to then take the info from the tables and do manual formulas on and stuff...I HATE THIS PART OF MY JOB.

Actually, this task isn't even my job, but nobody else wanted to do it, so because I was the newest person i get stuck with all the administrative b!tch tasks...oh yay.

That really sucks, Kim. I get mad at myself for doing things like that all the time. It helps me to remember that everyone makes mistakes...and then I eat some chocolate. :-)

I agree you need a break. I used to get so mad at myself over stuff too but I try not to get too mad at myself now b.c. it just makes me mess up more sometimes. Take a deep breath and when you get it done, reward yourself with something fun!!! (Even if it is something little!) Hang in there.

Like the other ladies said, you need a break. My goodness, that place you work for just sounds insane. I hope the work day tomorrow goes better/quicker for you so this weekend can get here!!

I finally got that F-ing report done at 7pm last night. THATS RIGHT. 7pm.

I told you it would take me ALL DAY!

That stinks, Kim! My husband did something similar last week... left out an entire data set for something that took him 3 days to do(or it takes 3 days for the analysis)! He was NOT happy.
