Just found out I get to go to DC for a weekend
I just found out I will be going to a yellow ribbon event in DC. I am super excited that we are being flown out to DC (me & 2 kids) for free. I am just praying that we actually get to leave to hotel this time I have never been and have always wanted to. The last yellow ribbon event I never stepped foot outside the hotel, it is hard to complain when it is all free but I am crossing my fingers for just a few hours to ourselves.
If you are familiar with the DC how friendly do you think public transportation will be with a 3 & 5 year old?
Re: Just found out I get to go to DC for a weekend
That sounds like fun!
I lived in DC for 4 years - the metro is perfectly kid-friendly, as are the buses. www.wmata.com has a trip planner for the DC public transportation system.
Do you know the general area your hotel will be located? That can help with activity planning.
The Smithsonian Museums are always interesting. The Air & Space Museum is cool and kids enjoy it. The Natural History Museum is another great one. Most of the Smithsonian Museums are located on the National Mall. The National Zoo is neat, but it can mean a lot of walking. There are DC Duck Tours that show you around DC by land and by river. I am hoping my two year old will be old enough next Spring to enjoy a Duck Tour!
I live in Northern Virginia, so let me know if you have any specific questions. I hope you have a great trip!
