Some of you may remember my post last week about my grandmother being hospitalized last week. They found a large mass in her lungs and a spot on her liver. She had to go in and have a biopsy done and the results are back. Not good. Its a very aggressive untreatable cancer. They are giving her some chemo to shrink the growth in her lungs just so she can breathe comfortably but then she is going into hospice. They are giving her anywhere from a few weeks to a couple of months.
This is such a shock because she is 81, totally independent, lives by herself, still drives, very active and sharp as a tack.....we didn't see this coming. Thanks for all your T&P, I appreciate it. If you could spare any more T&P that she is comfortable at the very end that would mean a lot.
Re: update from last week
Awww - that's so sad, I'm so sorry.
Are you goign to be able to see her soon?
Yeah, I am going to try and see her this weekend although I think they want to start the chemo like right now.
I'm sorry C. Hopefully, they can make her comfortable.
DH had a great aunt that had an unexpected brain tumor/cancer in the beginning of the year. They tried the chemo, but were even hesitant because of her age (I think she was in her mid 80's). Its a shame that in this day and age, they haven't done more research on chemo and radiation on the older generations.

Thanks ladies. Not that I think any of you would, but please don't say anything on FB right now.....there are still some family members that haven't been informed yet.
I had really hoped she would get to meet this baby (she adores DS) and its making me really sad to think she might not get to.
::hugs::
I'm so sorry. It must be so hard.
