Re: What happened with BOB?

  • I'm actually not sure. I passed along the advice, and Bob acknowledged that he should discuss it with his boss, so his boss is aware that the issue with Sue continues.

He also mentioned to me that apparently the time his old boss got involved, it was because Bob had gone to him to tell him that he and Sue were experiencing some personal issues that seemed to be spilling into work, but that Bob had no issue working with Sue despite his desire to no longer maintain a personal friendship. The old boss then called Sue and Bob both in to talk about it. Apparently, Sue likes to now throw that in Bob's face, saying that Bob "stabbed her in the back" by going to their then-boss about it. Bob said he's nervous that Sue will react similarly (or worse) if he goes to his new boss, or HR. He told me he was considering telling Sue that they both needed to sit down with the new boss, and going in together, to avoid giving her more "ammo". I told him I thought he needed to worry about covering his own behind, and not hers, since clearly she's crazycakes, and will find reasons to be angry at him no matter what he does.

Bob mentioned that it might be a couple of weeks before anything would happen with this because both he and Sue will be out of the office for some part of the next couple of weeks for business trips/vacation (such that they won't both be there at the same time until the last week of September). So, I'll have to catch up with him on it after he returns to work.

  • HR definitely needs to get involved. This is apparently affecting the work environment and the productivity of the employees and the company. I agree, Bob needs to work on protecting himself...not the wacko. She obviously cannot be professional.

I agree with all these points.

And when I first read the OP I had no idea what it meant.  I thought BOB was some kind of acronym since it was in all caps.  That, or isn't there a stroller by that name?  I'm so glad you responded or I would have been confused all day!

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball
