This may apply to some of you ...

... but if it doesnt then dont take offense

I received a fb message today "hi. my friends husband is deployed with you and he said that you were talking to my husband. You need to stay the hell away from him!!! He's MINE......" the message continued about him being the father to her children and do I want to be a homewrecker ....

ummmmm 1. I dont want your H. In order to do his job he has to conduct business in my office. 2. Are you so insecure in your marriage that you are threatened by me talking to him? 3. My husband is here with me and again, I dont want your H. 4. What didyou expect me to do with this message?

I didnt actually respond to her message but I did think all of the above.

Why is it that women do this? I hate the sterotype that comes with being a military female that says that we prowl on the military men....

  • Um... wow!  I can't believe someone had the balls to send you that.  I've had to deal with crap like that before.  If it were me, I would ignore the wife.  I would, however inform the guy, with a witness, that he needs to have a long talk with his wife about her inapropriate behavior.

Yep.  Maybe in front of your squad or platoon leader.  I'd also print that out and save it somewhere...you never know when you may need the proof and FB isn't reliable.

  • So...she's allowed to email back and forth with her friend's husband, and that's not shady?

  •  Some Women are so dramatic! I would never do something like that, and I agree I hate the stereotype that comes with Military Women.

  • I would do a few things:

    1.  DO NOT reply to her.

    2.  Show the husband of the woman who sent this to you, and ask him what the deal is (in a non-accusatory manner).

    3.  Show your supervisor. Make sure that the supervisor is aware that a) there is nothing going on between you and your coworker, b) you are potentially being harassed by the coworker's wife for doing your job, and c) that your coworker is in a possibly unstable marital situation.

Edit:  Sorry, misred at first and thought that it was the WIFE who sent you the message, not the wife's friend.   Regardless, you should still show your coworker, and your boss.

  • DO NOT ENGAGE WITH THE WIFE OR HUSBAND.

Make a copy and immediately bring it to your Shirt or Chief.  Let them handle this - that is their job.

I asked my DH what he would want one of his Airmen to do in a situation like this and he said that he needs to know - because in many cases, there is more to the story than just an overly insecure/jealous wife, which means more headaches if not dealt with ASAP AND ANY communication you have with either of them muddies the water even further.

I also agree with both of these.

Wow!!! I am just speechless about that whole thing!

  • Not to sound rude but...is this wife 18 years old? I can't even wrap my head around how immature this is.

I dont know the age of this wife, but when I was 19 I received messages from a 29 year old similar to this one. I dont think age is a factor when it comes to stuff like this.

  • This is a repeat issue for you?

This is a repeat issue for you?
No. I wouldnt say it is a repeat issue. When I was 19 (6 years ago) a woman contacted my command (different unit than the one I am in today) bc she saw a pic of me standing next to her husband and it offended her. Did I mention it was a platoon photo? Some people are just insecure.
