Ouch!

H and I are on vacay in FL and I got sun poisoning. :-( I've had it once before about 11 years ago though that time it was way worse. Anyone have any suggestions for relief? It doesn't really hurt but I have blustery bumps all over my shoulders and chest.

Re: Ouch!

  • Ugh, Sun poisoning is the WORST. I got it once at the beginning of my pregnancy (no one told me your skin is more sensitive when you are PG lol) around the same time I started getting morning sickness and I thought I was going to die. I would recommend getting some aloe gel for the burn and to keep it from drying out and also take some ibuprofen to help get rid of some of the irritation and swelling. Hope it goes away soon!

  • I think thats what I had a few years ago and aloe was helpful. I had the "blue" aloe which has lidocaine (a pain reliever) if it does sting or anything. Staying out of the sun til it heals or cover up the affected area will definitely help :-) I didn't do that . . . silly me. Hope yours heals fast!

  • ouch! I hope it feels better soon! You might want to keep your aloe in the fridge the cooling sensation of the cool aloe will feel nice and what the other ladies said is also good. Take a pain killer that should help.

Also keep REALLY hydrated and drink a TON of water because it will help keep you from being too dry  but also the burn is taking some of the fluids out of your body so you need to replace them.

  • Yikes!  :(  I'm sorry.  That happened to me when MOH and I were in Miami back in the early 2000s and I had no idea what to do or what it was until it was done and gone.  I had little bumps all over my forehead and I just kept putting Clearasil on it thinking they were a breakout.  :-/

  • Eek! That sound horrid!  I agree, probably staying hydrated, staying out of the sun, and applying aloe is the best thing you could do for your skin!  Hope it goes away soon!

  • DH gets this A LOT since he is redheaded.  Try some lotion with lidocaine in it.  It usually helps him.
