I'm an idiot.

I KNOW what a stupid decision this is, but I can't help it.  I LOVE the colors and look of this room and with my bed, it would be perfect with a few accessory tweaks.  But I have a black lab.  dumb to get a white comforter, but she doesn't get to sleep with me anyway (I built a bed for her right by my side of the bed I sleep on, so she is almost right by my head anyway)  But I just can't find another comforter I'm in love with for this room look. I have hardwood floors that I love, but a rug would be nice to wake up to!  lol

But if anyone has any ideas on different bedding, I would LOVE to hear it!!

Re: I'm an idiot.

  • What about getting an additional throw blanket to go with it?  Something that was either a coordinating color or even white, but that is easy to wash?  It would keep your good blanket showcase-worthy.
  • that's not a bad idea!  Didn't think of that!  Thanks for the tip!
  • We also have a black dog, and I too love the look of white bedding, but we went with darker bedding so it wouldn't show so much black hair.  You could still have the same color scheme and style as your inspiration picture, just switch up what elements are light and dark.

What about going with dark bedding for the comforter/duvet?  And then use throw pillows with lighter patterns to bring in the lighter colors on the bed? Also, with darker bedding, you could have lighter colored nightstands so everything didn't appear so dark.

The style of our bedroom isn't exactly the same as your inspiration picture, but it might give you a good idea of darker bedding and lighter nightstands.

  • OP, I love that room too, so pretty!  I have nothing to add but, think the other ideas the ladies are giving are great!

Brit, your room is beautiful!  = )

  • For reals love that room.

We have a yellow lab (so yes, much different on the hair level) that sleeps in bed with us and we have many a queen-sized white fleece blankets that we change out and toss in the wash every few days to keep our bedding (mostly) dog hair free. When we have company over, we just remove the blanket and give the illusion of gorgeous bedding sans dog hair. Until he lays on the bad again. :)

And even though you have hardwood - you should most definitely do the rug! Rugs are easy(ish) to roll up and stash somewhere if you need change!
