Follow up u/s

So it looks like Baby Girl has 2 club feet Sad  The doctor didn't see anything else on the u/s that worried him, but said in about 10% of cases there's other underlying (more major) problems.  He's not as concerned with us since he didn't notice anything else.  My dad and little cousin also had some sort of foot issues as babies (both wore braces, and I'm not sure what else), so I need to figure out what that was.  The doctor said it sounds more genetic than anything else if they had the same problem.

We're upset, but it is what it is.  We need to decide if we want to do an amino to rule out more major issues.  DH really doesn't want to, and I'm not sure what the benefit would be.  We wouldn't terminate no matter what, and the risk of miscarriage freaks me out.  The doctor said someone from the hospital should call today to set us up with a pediatric ortho surgeon so we can meet with them and figure out what the treatment options, etc. are.  Not sure how we're supposed to afford all that without insurance for the baby, but oh well.

  • sorry to hear the news... praying for you!

like i said before- club feet isnt all that rare and many times it fixes itself or can be easily fixed with the use of braces/splints early on...

thank goodness nothing else looked concerning though! your baby will be perfect no matter what, keep your chin up and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy, it goes fast! :)

  • If you guys have a Shriner's Hospital up there, I would highly recommend them! You pay little to nothing, regardless of having insurance or not, and they are excellent there. We take Zoe for her hip dysplasia and love it. A lot of the doctors there are top of their field.

  • I'm sorry you had to receive this news. Since the doctor doesn't believe there are other issues and this is correctable, hopefully this will only be a little bump in the road. And hoping there is some kind of aide available for you. T & Ps.

  • I'm really sorry but love your great attitude! If it makes you feel any better, my husband was born with club feet, had surgery and all is well!
