Part time demonstrator job-is this a SCAM? Sunflower Staffing

I am applying for a position with Sunflower Staffing-they do demos of food, beauty, juices, etc. at Target, grocery stores, Sams.....

So, they want my SS and a photo as part of the app. Is this legit? I am not going to apply and have a company have my picture/SS. Any idea if this is a scam?

TIA

Re: Part time demonstrator job-is this a SCAM? Sunflower Staffing

  • IMO this is a scam.  You can tell them you will give them the SSN upon receipt of a job offer, but NEVER NEVER NEVER give your social to a company no matter how legit they sound without having a job offer in hand.

  • I don't know about this company specifically, but it sounds similar to some promotional companies I have worked for before.  I am considered an independent contractor and am able to choose which jobs to work based on my schedule.  I am not on their payroll and I usually work one or two events a year doing the kind of stuff you are mentioning- food demos etc.

The companies I work for are contracted by the demo companies and require a picture so they can pick the people that fit their image for that event.  The SS # is so they can pay you.  I don't think I have had to give out the SS # before actually being selected for an event though.

This could definitely be a legitimate company, but I would do a lot more research before giving over that info!  Sorry this reply got really long- hope it helps some!
