Why are we buying a house again???

I am seriously going to fall apart before we close on this condo! Today we got our HUD-1 form and we have to bring more than DOUBLE the money we thought to closing. I am freaking out right now.... I feel like we are bleeding money.... I don't know what to do

  • I'd call the banker and have them walk you through it line by line.  You may find an error?  Alos, if I remember it right HUD also includes 'pre-paids' - meaning things you've already paid for so while it's 'required to close' it's not money you're bringing to the closing table.

Also?  Kind of welcome to Homeownership.  Sucks, but you're always spending money to do/fix/upkeep/improve or just beautify something.   I am looking into replacing our front door................and just found out that it could be about $3,000 (custom shape, can't get at HD/Lowe's or the like).

So, yea, homeowners everywhere feel your pain :(

  • I emailed her and called, the only response I got was a screen shot of the area with what I need to make the check to. I'm really hoping DH can sort this all out when he gets home, I'm too upset to even speak with her. I can't believe it is this far off. Our closing costs (after sellers contribution (3.5%)) are 7% of our loan. I can't believe it!

Yea, yowsers that sounds like a lot.  I feel like ours were about 3% of the purchase price or so?  Maybe even a little less?

  • Apparently we have to pay a lump sum of non-homestead taxes that were pre-paid by the sellers for the days that we will be owning the home. The non-homestead taxes are 40% more than what our taxes will normally be.
