F/U: Define 'document'

in the WWYD post below, numerous posters said "document, document, document" what exactly does that mean?

Do you just keep a running tab of everything done wrong? If it actually came down to it, how is it not still 'he said-she said'?

a written log of who said/did what, what was discussed at any meetings, any plans to remedy the wrong, etc. its best if its all in email where you can plainly see who sent what.

in my line of work, law, documentation is EVERYTHING

writing down when incidents happen, how the person reacted, etc.

We do it as teachers, too. We document behavior problems and correspondence with parents, etc... Anything we think we should keep to protect ourselves down the line.

good point, I'm just having a hard time documenting what's going on with my principal. I guess I just need to 'pretend' like she's a student.

good point, I'm just having a hard time documenting what's going on with my principal. I guess I just need to 'pretend' like she's a student.

Uh-oh. Yeah, keep all records of your correspondence and obviously anything related to evaluations. I wish I could have tape recorded my conversations with mine because it would have shown that what she said from one meeting to the next contradicted. But when she wrote up my evals she could make it sound different. GL!

Yeah, I actually have tape recordings of my eval meetings several years ago when I was in San Diego...didn't help. Sad

Yeah, I know it wouldn't have for me since I was still probationary being a 2nd year teacher, but just for my own memory of how things were twisted.
