My grandmother in law
I love her - REALLY REALLY LOVE HER. She is so fantastic to DH and...sometimes she might talk sh!t to me about SIL - lol. Anyway, she has gone on and on and on about wanting new counter tops in her kitchen. She has a gorgeous house with BEAUTIFUL maple cabinets - but she does need some new appliances, countertops, and maybe a new backsplash. I called DH's aunt to find out if new counters is something she really wants or if it is something she just talks to me about because she knows I am House Renovation Crazy. Aunt agreed - grandmother talks about it all the time. I called FIL and asked him - and he agreed - she talks about it all the time to him as well. So, for xmas, the three of us (well, MIL/FIL, Aunt in law/Uncle in law, and DH and I) are going to redo Grandmother in law's kitchen. I am super excited - FIL even sounded really excited and we talked on the phone about it for a long time last night. DH is kind of "eh" about it - because, as happens every xmas - we all go in on a gift but neither his cousin or his sister contribute - but I don't care. She is absolutely the best and I can't wait to help her pick stuff out. I know she will just DIE.

That sounds like an awesome gift, but hopefully she can live long enough to enjoy it, lol! Sorry, I just thought the last sentence was ironic even though I know how you meant it.
