The Brad Pitt Interview in Parade

Can we talk about this? Normally, I am a Brad Pitt fan. But I think he shouldn't have said anything about his marriage to Jennifer. They have been divorced for so long and they both claim they want to move forward. This is just starting the whole Team Jolie vs Team Aniston feud all over. I am just surprised he mentioned it. Now he is doing damage control but I think the damage has been done.

Re: The Brad Pitt Interview in Parade

  • I don't care about either Brad, Jen, or Angelina, so I'm probably not the person to discuss this with, however, I look at it differently. To the public, his marriage to Jen was a big thing. If he hadn't mentioned it, it may well have been the elephant in the room. He mentions it, and people think he's being disrespectful.

    :shrugs:

  • He should have said nothing. If a reporter brings it up all he should say is "I wish her all the best" and leave it at that.....can you tell I worked PR for years and have had media training Stick out tongue

More important to me is WTF is with that hair? He looks awful. It looks greasy and dirty like that. I wish he'd cut it.

  • He could also have said how his life was empty - but it was his own choosing.  Really, if he wanted to save the world, he could have done that while married to Anniston.  Nothing was holding him back.

I do remember Anniston said he was a huge pothead.

LOL about how great his kids are at being home-schooled.  I have so much more respect for celebrities who try to give their kids a "normal" upbringing and teach them they are not better than anyone else.

Not that I'm on team Anniston - she's probably crazycakes as well.  I prefer celebrities to keep their private lives private.

  • He released a follow-up statement to this quote.

But following the story's publication on the Web, according to Reuters, Pitt issued a statement lamenting that people are taking his quotes the wrong way. "It grieves me that this was interpreted this way. Jen is an incredibly giving, loving, and hilarious woman who remains my friend. It is an important relationship I value greatly," he explained in the statement released through his talent agency. "The point I was trying to make is not that Jen was dull, but that I was becoming dull to myself ? and that, I am responsible for."

  • I sure the writer of the article had NOTHING to do with the orignal statement being written like that!Stick out tongue He did his job and I bet got a few more magazines sold because of his wording.

I was under the impression that Parade is usually a magazine that panders to the celebrities and doesn't try to create a lot of drama.  They usually never ask the "hard" questions or gloss over them.  I think Brad is just got tripped up in his idiocy.  Just b/c he is a multi-million $ celebrity doesn't mean he is intelligent or thoughtful.

  • I think it was pretty inappropriate to say what he did but I am not at all surprised.  Then again this is a guy that appears to morph into a male version of whomever he is romantically involved with.  I can't help but think that part of Angelina's appeal for him is that he thought it might make him appear to be more altruistic and deep.

    Yes

FWIW, I'm not a Jen Aniston fan. And I don't buy her desperate for kids, America's sweetheart image for one second.

  • He has gone a long time with not saying anything and Jennifer Aniston playing the 'poor me' card.

I'm not condoning cheating on your spouse, but I understood what he was trying to say, and was surprised that no one said anything sooner.  They were incredibly wrong from the beginning, and he is much more the person that he was trying to to be now than he was with her.

She had no interest in his interest with green living (wouldn't live in the home he designed and lived in), didn't care about the political things he was interested in, and I could never figure out why either of them wanted to date, much less marry the other one.   He had the same interests that he does now, long before he and Angelina got together.

I am not really a fan of any of them...I just remember reading things about them, especially because I was interested in with environmental issues/green homes and I came across things about his involvement and his home, and their stories overlapped..
