Frosting Recipe?

Anyone have a good cake frosting recipe?  I want to practice for C's b-day cupcakes and would like a yummy easy-to-pipe frosting.  TIA!

Re: Frosting Recipe?

  • I make a homemade buttercream frosting. I don't measure any of it though! I use half a bag of confectioner's sugar, a stick of butter, about a teaspoon or a littlemore of vanilla extract and milk. Soften the butter to make life easy. Use a mixer and add milk in small increments until it is the consistency of icing. You could ways add more sugar if the icing gets too thin. Sorry if any of that doesn't make sense. I can clarify if you have any questions... Good luck!

  • This is my favorite. It's not the typical sweet. Don't let it scare you it makes tons I know it sounds like a lot of eggs.

For the first if you are going to color it's much easier to mix the color in with a mixer when I do it by hand I have to mix forever. Good Luck!

  • Creamy Chocolate Frosting

    2 3/4 cups confectioners' sugar

    6 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

    6 tbsp butter

5 tbsp milk (you could also used condensed milk but I didnt have any)

    1 tsp vanilla extract

In a medium bowl, sift together sugar and cocoa, set aside.  In a large bowl, cream butter until smooth then gradually beat in sugar mixture alternately with the milk.  Blend in vanilla. Beat until light anf fluffy. If necessary adjust consistency with more milk or sugar

This was delicious and made a ton. I made it to frost cupcakes, the consistency was similiar to store bought!

    Enjoy!
