Top Chef: Just Desserts, anyone? (9/14)
Fun challenge this week. I don't know anyone's names, but I'm glad the scrawny dude went home. His voice was really starting to grate on my nerves, and he was definitely in over his head.
I thought the other girl got the shaft. Why didn't orange dirt / Oompa Loompa droppings (*shudder*) girl go home? At least the other girl had one good dessert (daisies).
On a related note, man I wish I could spend 20 minutes in that room. Nom nom.
OH, and what's with Chef Johnny's new styling?? He's less 'scary wolfman' Johnny, and more 'polished, approachable' Johnny. Lol.
Re: Top Chef: Just Desserts, anyone? (9/14)
those were my favorites as well
I think the judges made the right choice. It was definitely Craig's turn to go - he was definitely in over his head and couldn't compete with the others.
The reason Melissa went home and not Sally (orange dirt), is probably because Sally at least used some pretty extensive skill to make her financier, whereas Melissa screwed up something as basic as a doughnut. Her doughnuts were SO sloppy! It's one thing if they didn't taste good, but they looked horrible with the green glaze.
So far, I'm really liking Katzie, Megan and Carlos. I can't wait for Chris (the guy who did the choc fountain) to go home. He has a chip on his shoulder that drives me crazy.
Even Melissa agreed that it was right to send her home. I actually think she was more likeable in that episode (when she was leaving) than at any other time. If she was like that earlier, I would have not wanted her to go home!
I don't like Chris. HAHAHA his chocolate fountain (that took 18 man-hours to make) didn't make it in the top. He looked so shocked. Good for Katzie for standing her ground - she contributed to the room AND her own dessert.
And did Chris clear it with the judges that "no one from the creative team goes home?" It seems like Johnny was pretty direct (with Megan) that "it's nice that you are doing so many things for the room - remember this is a competition, what are you doing for yourself?"
I lovelovelove Johnny. I love that he can be wearing his crisp button-down shirt, and you can still see the tats on his forearms!
