Just wanted to share here (kind of long)

I know a lot of you are friends with me on FB and I totally am not trying to overload you all, but I wanted to post it here so that if there was someone around who might be interested in helping us out I would know.

You all know Josh Jr. was diagnosed this spring with autism, and we are making some excellent progress with him and his communication. His speech therapist reccommended trying to get him an iPad to help him improve some more, there's lots of evidence pointing to the benefits of iPad technology for kids on the spectrum. I have been applying for give aways and grant programs to try and put Monk in the running to get an iPad, but we have also started something called the iPad Challenge.

A company, The Puzzling Piece, is run by a mom and dad of an autistic child who was fortunate to raise money and awareness for autism and get their son an iPad. Because of their success they have started doing a challenge for other parents to earn iPads by selling their autism awareness merchandise to family and friends. Each of the approve pieces in the Challenge will earn the challenger 1 point toward an iPad for their child. When we reach 60 points they will send to us free of charge an iPad....but we can continue to raise awareness and sell products to also earn iTunes gift cards to help pay for learning tools and apps for the iPad.

We have had an overwhelming response in support of our efforts and I hope that it will translate into getting Monk a neat new tool for his therapy. If you are interested in how to purchase a piece to help us out please DM me.

You ladies have been such a great support for me in the past and I do appreciate all of you. If you know anyone who might want to help us out please let them know too, and I will be happy to give you all the details! Likewise if you know anyone who could benefit from learning more about the iPad challenge (I believe special needs teachers can do this for their students too) check out www.thepuzzzlingpiece.com and look under the iPad challenge, or have them contact me.
