Which do you like better/Should I use Velspar Paint?

To be honest, I'm leaning towards the darker color, but I'd like your opinion. And if you ladies think Velspar is a poopy paint, I'd love some suggestions!

  • Sorry, I meant to post this in D&R, but your suggestions would be appreciated!

  • They suggested Velspar Signature?

  • I like the lighter color but they are both nice. How big is the room you are painting? If it is a smallish room go with the lighter color.

We always use Behr paint for at our homes and on our renovation houses. Benjamin Moore is also really good. Not real fond of Valspar and their color match system SUCKS!

  • Honestly like the darker one 10000x more.
    Valspar > Behr IMO

  • The room is pretty big. I'm leaning towards the darker one as well! Its not as green as it seems in the picture. I'm going to look into some prices and see which I like better.

  • I like the darker paint better but if you are trying to match the fabric, I think the lighter one matches better.  Also I love Valspar paint.  It's all I use.  I tried a couple big name brand paints and it turned out so awful I had Lowes match the color in Valspar and redo it.

  • I like the darker color too.

We've gotten Valspar paint on occasion, it has the strongest smell IMO. I've used Sherwin Williams, Valspar, Olympic, Glidden and Behr paints... it's definitely the smelliest out of all of those brands.

We typically use Behr paint. I've found that a paint, is a paint, is a paint. If you're painting from one extreme to the next, you're going to need primer... unless you're a fan of doing multiple coats. We get Behr because it seems to smell the least out of what we've used.

I get paint cards from everywhere. Any paint brand can match any card. So don't think that you have to use the Valspar swatches if you want Valspar paint.

  • IMO, the lighter shade looks like it coordinates better (less green in it).  I like Valspar paint but don't use it because it's more expensive than others that work just as well.  Behr's good paint (I've used it a lot) but don't waste your $ on their paint and primer in one...I hate it.  It's in no way better than regular paint and even peeled right off my bathroom wall!  Some primer.
